Located in Beaufort’s Historic District, Beaufort Grocery Company brings subtle grace and charm reminiscent of a French country Bistro to the local scene.
In the evening, Beaufort Grocery Company transforms into one of the region’s most renowned dining establishments with daily seafood specials, and a wide variety of other entrées, appetizers, and desserts further complimented by one of the premier wine lists in the region. Although the dinner menu offers six to eight main courses, this limited menu has unlimited appeal. This is due to the additional nightly dinner features created with local and seasonal ingredients. All main courses are served with a produce salad or cup of soup.
The lunch menu offers a great variety with appetizers, soups, salads, and sandwiches. All food is prepared to order. As a member of Carteret Catch, Sumpin’s Jumpin’ is a great catch. This fresh fish sandwich is created daily and is also offered as a salad. Be sure to order the Carolina caviar as a side. It will not disappoint. The fresh Cobb Salad is second to none.
If you’ve had a late Saturday night, then Sunday brunch at Beaufort Grocery is your best friend. Locals take this hybrid meal of breakfast and lunch very seriously and enjoy a bevy of options. Two favorite menu features include Egg Wellington prepared with grilled beef tenderloin and Benedict Arnold made with crab cakes. Their signature flambéed Saganaki is a great way to begin any celebration.
Charles Park and his wife Wendy established the restaurant in 1991 on the site of the old Owens Grocery Store. Charles serves as Executive Chef of the establishment, while Wendy manages the front of the house and doubles as Pastry Chef. Charles is a C.E.C., and a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. He is a member of the prestigious Chaîne des Rôtisseurs™.
In 1994, the restaurant was expanded to the adjacent property at 115 Queen Street where special dinners, private parties, wedding receptions and other catered events are accommodated in the historic house, as well as in its beautifully landscaped garden. They can accommodate 60 people seated for a special event. The outdoor patio can seat 100. Cocktail receptions can accommodate 175 people using both the dining room and patio.
In 2016, the BeauGro Food Truck first appeared on the local scene at Beaufort Wine & Food’s annual April festival. Today, the food truck appears at many local events and can be booked for private events.
For over 30 years, Beaufort Grocery Company has been at the forefront of Beaufort’s dining scene. They continue to prove that not all the best restaurants are located on the waterfront.
