The Spot Grill serves up the best local seafood, cheeseburgers and hot dogs around. This restaurant has been cooking up these old fashioned American favorites for over 70 years!
The Spot, in existence since 1950 in Beaufort, was remade by Carteret County restaurateur Sammy Boyd who runs a seafood company and two more restaurants in neighboring Morehead City. Sammy is a hands-on owner doing everything from preparing the seafood dishes and grilling burgers to fishing and harvesting oysters.
The Spot specializes in fresh, local North Carolina seafood and it is as fresh as you can get anywhere. You never know what fresh fish may be on special that day. It’s not uncommon for them to have fresh tuna brought from the docks that morning for a lunch special. They are known for the large number of daily fish specials they offer in addition to the regular menu. Flounder burgers and Shrimp burgers are local menu favorites.
For those interested in traditional American food, try their hand-pattied hamburgers and cheeseburgers. You can order your burger “All the Way” with mustard, onions, and chili sauce. Carolina red hot dogs and even North Carolina BBQ are on the menu. Milk shakes made with real ice cream are available in the classic flavors of Chocolate, Vanilla, and Strawberry.
Another secret is how they cook the seafood and they definitely know how. The staff is outstanding and very friendly. If you have any questions about North Carolina seafood, just ask. They define Southern hospitality!
Once the food is ordered and paid for with cash, customers generally pick up their food fresh and piping hot! Most people don’t mind that everything is served on paper plates. Yes, the food is just that good. A really good sign is that upon every visit, you’ll most likely see police officers, fishermen, and locals from Down East. Located a very short drive from downtown Beaufort on Rt. 70, this little spot is worth the trip. It is truly where the locals go!
This is a cash only establishment with an ATM available on site.
